Back to School Cool

So this is the Back to School Cool looks for 2011 and I had to laugh. It seems like the past, especially the 80's, is back in fashion. Here's what's hot...

Hot colors - jade, teal, bamboo, coffee, orchid, & phlox
• Nail polish colors - graphite, péridot and quartz
• Crackle nail polish
• New scented nail polish
• Chunky funky bracelets - MeBands are cool & collectible
• OppoRings
• Cool high tops, bold and bedazzled
• Funky jewelry - plastic bracelets
• Chunky rings
• Backpacks, multi-style and color
• Large watches
• Toms shoes - shoes that give back
• Retro sunglasses
• Trendy scarves (yes they are still in, and make great belts too.)
• Ballet flats
• Funky lunch bags - very eco-friendly
• Feather earrings
• Crochet detailing
• Blazers

Slap Bracelets are making a come back - I loved these

Retro Sunglasses - love both of these - Linden wants the shutter shades :)

Converse Hightops - so 80's

We are doing our back to school shopping this weekend can't wait to see what we end up getting LOL

Who will be Ms. Scrapbook Star 2011??

This will be my last challenge for the Scrapbook Star 2011 Beauty Pageant. I decided to make it an easy one and all you have to do is upload your favorite layout so far for 2011. For me it is this one...

Not because it's the best design or the best colors or any of that - for me scrapbooking is about keeping memories alive and everytime I look at this layout I think back to the day when my son and his grade 6 class won the Delta Pin Guard Tournament. He said to me after that it was the best day of his life and it was such a rush. It was the first time we both got caught up in the competition of sport and the amazing feel of a victory.

So what's your favorite?

Lovin' the Canvas

Right now I am loving canvas. It's so fun to work with and adds such a nice element to my mini albums. Here's one I did for my friend to thank her for inviting us to spend the week with her family at Savary Island. It is so much fun to be there and we love it more every year.

What are you loving right now?

Back To School

I can't believe school starts again in a few weeks - this summer has flown by! I wanted to make a Back To School Countdown Calendar to remind me and the kids how many days we have left to enjoy summer and get organized for school.

I used my Bind-It-All to make a little mini album for the countdown and attached it to a larger board and decorated it with the school theme paper from Crate Paper.

Head on over to the Bind-It-All blog for more details.

Banners

I still can't get enough of the trendy banners I am seeing on a lot of projects they are so much fun. Here's one I did for the Scrapbook Star Beauty Pageant contest today.

I used the striped paper and cut them into banner shapes and added them as a border along te bottom of my photos.

I hope you can stop by and play along with us.

Scrapbook Star Beauty Pageant

Another challenge is up at the Scrapbook Star Beauty Pageant. In the Miss World Pageant the contestants come from all over the world so for this challenge you have to scrapbook about anywhere other than your home town. Here's a layout I did with two of my favorite photos from our recent trip to California.

I wanted the photos to be the focus for this layout so I rolled some papers and wrapped them in twine to add some fun embellishments. I also added a calendar to show the date.

Hope you can drop by and play along.

Echo Park Love

A lot of people ask me what is one of my go to scrapbook paper companies and right now I would have to say one of them is Echo Park. I don't think there is a collection they have released that I didn't like.

This love affair started with their very first release Sweet Summertime. I spotted it in my LSS and fell in love. I came home and made a few layouts and projects with it and I was hooked. It's still one of my favorites!

Next came A Walk in the Park. I loved the colors in this line and the trees - just beautiful!

Then I was working on some Christmas projects and fell in love with both of the collections. The Merry Christmas collection was a gorgeous traditional collection with a hint of vintage.

The Everybody Loves Christmas collection was so cute and bright. It was perfect for some fun projects. The shadow box below was featured on Two Peas In A Bucket and you can find instructions on how to recreate it on their website here http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/274818-fleursbydesign/1684835-merry-christmas-shadow-box/.

Then came the Wintertime collection perfect for those snowy theme photos and I loved the stickers that came with the collection especially the snowman.

The Little Boy collection was perfect for me as I have two boys. I loved the colors and the planes and trains in this collection - so cute!

The Be Mine collection had some fabulous papers in it and the sticker sheet was amazing. Loved it!

The Little Girl line was so pretty - I loved the cupcakes and pretty colors from this collection.

Ahh Springtime, I love it when a paper comes along that I can spend hours cutting out all the pretty images like I did with the flowers in the card below.

Next came For the Record. This was another one of my favorites. I loved the vintage feel and the colors were perfect for pretty much any layout and project. I love it when a collection comes out like this that is so versatile. I can't show much for this one as they have been picked up for publication :)

Last but not least was Summer Days. I loved the bright papers and fun stickers always perfect for my bright summery photos.

I can't wait to see Echo Park's new collections in my LSS as they always inspire me to create amazing layouts, cards and projects!

Thanks for stopping by!
