Graduation

Today is the graduation ceremony for my son Rhys.  I can't believe he is starting high school in a few short months.  This year has been a crazy year with the teacher's striking and holding back services.  The kids have really felt the difference but I am so proud of Rhys for pushing through and coming through the year with flying colors.

Here is on the first day of Kindergarden.

And here he is all grown up.

Congrats Rhys we are so proud of you!

Today is Grad day!

I can't believe my oldest son is graduating from elementary school and moving onto High School!  Where did the time go?  I had the privelege of spending the year with his class making scrapbooks to remember this amazing year.

I also made a little scrapbook/autograph book for one student who joined their class at the end of the year.  You can head on over to the Zutter Bind-It-All blog to see more details.

I am excited at this new step for my son and a little nervous.  I know he'll do great but as a Mom it's kind of sad to see the time go by and know that soon they will be flying out of the nest.  Thanks for stopping by.

I hope you Shine

I made this graduation card for my friends daughter who is like a daughter to me.  I hope she shines :)

I used the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection, I especially love the Dear Lizzy Roller Date Stamp.  You can see I added the "Big Day Jun 28 2012" to the card which is the date they are graduating.

I love using the negative image of punches and I filled each heart with the colors of the rainbow.  I added the confetti border with double sided tape and lots of punched out circles from the same paper.

I also love the foam letters that came with this collection.  So sweet.

Graduation Party Favors

I have been working feverishly on the plans for the Port Guichon Grade 7 Grad Lunch.  The theme is "Let Your True Colors Shine".  There will be lots of bright colors and fun things.  For the party favors I am making tumblers filled with a frame and a gift card for each of the grads.  As there are 26 in my son's class I will be pretty busy for the next few days.

Here's what one looks like.

I hope the kids will like them!

My Happiness Project

One of the blogs I visit regularly is Christine Middlecamp's.  Her layering is amazing and she thinks up the coolest projects.  This summer she is doing a project she calls "Mapping Happiness".  You can find more about it and see one of her finished projects on her blog here http://retrospection.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/06/nearly-a-month-ago-i-hauled-myself-to-the-self-help-section-of-the-local-bookstore-with-the-idea-that-somewhere-amongs.html .

I decided I would play along but keep the mini projects really simple.  I will be keeping them the same general size and journaling on the back so I can remember all the details.  Here are my first two tags.

The first piece of happiness from week one is my oldest son doing the plank walk at his last sports day.  He graduates this year and this plank walk is a tradition that all grade 7's have done.  He almost didn't get to do it as his school had a code yellow lock down because of a problem in the area.  I was so glad that this tradition didn't get missed.

The second piece of happiness from week one is my youngest son's recital.  It is his first year at Studio West and he took Musical Theatre and Hip Hop.  His musical theatre routine "Oh the Thinks you can Think" was amazing.  He played the Cat in the Hat and was so awesome.  They won a few competitions this year then this weekend took home the "Best Junior Performance" award.  He (and I) was so excited.

I am excited to keep track of all my happy moments and I can't wait to see the project when it is completely finished and hanging on my studio wall.

Wrapping it up

With the end of the school year a lot of other things also seem to come to an end all at the same time. I wanted to make a thank you for Linden's piano teacher, Musical Theatre instructor, Hip Hop instructor, his teacher and the assistant. That's 5 thank yous just for one kid!

Luckily I started early and made these cards.

I thought the summer theme for the first two would be perfect for the teachers.

I made this card for the piano teacher who has to put up with a kid who doesn't like to sit down but likes to put on the beats and dance around.  She was always great with him :)

Whew, only 2 more to go!

For the Man in your life...

With Father's Day fast approaching I wanted to make a mini album for my husband who is an amazing father.  I love using the Zutter Corrugated Board for masculine projects and the Bella Blvd. paper was perfect for this project.

To see some more of how I created this album and some of the inside pages head on over to the Bind-It-All blog. http://binditall.blogspot.ca/2012/06/for-man-in-your-life.html

Cutting Pretty Paper

Cutting pretty paper is one of my favorite things to do!  I love coming up with new ways to use paper as embellishments and using pretty paper on my layouts.

For this layout I used some scraps I had left over and created a shape then used the shape as a background for my layout. I added a title and a button and it was done.

I love coming up with new ways to use my pretty paper and since I have a huge stash of it maybe I'll actually make a dent in it lol.

Me

I wanted to make a little mini about some of my favorite things right now.  I love looking back at these mini albums to see what was going on in my life at that time and what thinks I still like or have moved on from.

I used tags for the pages and added some of my favorite Instagram photos.

My partner in crime :)

My oldest, Rhys, is so thoughtful, caring and just a beautiful person.  He loves computers and science and wants to be a robotic engineer when he gets older.

Confetti :)

My youngest son is so crazy and fun and full of life.  He loves music and plays piano, does musical theatre and Hip Hop.

My house.

My favorite drink is a Coke Slurpee.

Love the Dear Lizzy foam letters.  This album was made with the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection which is one of my favorite collections ever.

Handsome

I love this photo of my son Linden and his cousin.  I wanted to add some thread on this layout and decided to try gluing it randomly around the buttons on the layout.

I am still not sure if I like it but it's always fun to try something new and sometimes you end up with something amazing.

Seussical the Musical

My son wanted to try his hand at Musical Theatre this year so we scouted out some dance schools and found Studio West in Ladner.  He has loved every minute.  Their competition number is from Seussical the Musical and he got to plat The Cat In the Hat (a perfect fit for him).  They did very well in the competitions winning first place in one and getting Gold in the second.

Here is he is in his costume with his friend Sophia who is Thing 2. I thought the costumes were amazing and Jyla won for choreography at the second competition.

He also took Hip Hop which he loved.  They did fairly well in that too , although they only competed once, getting Gold.

With 2 boys I never thought I would be a dance mom but I have loved watching every minute.
