Project Happiness Week 6

Summer is in full swing for this week.  My youngest is in camp for the week since my husband and I still have to work, and my oldest is playing the day away.

This week my first happiness came from my youngest son.  He came home one day and showed me some notes that got left in his backpack from a few girls at camp.  They were love notes and they were so cute.

I used some left over My Minds Eye and Amy Tangerine papers, and Cosmo Cricket letters.  I usually just use what's on my desk at the time that I am doing these to use up my leftover scraps.

I also found some old brads and ribbon to add the finishing touches.

The second happy thing that happened this week was the Instagram blog photo challenge.  I usually try to play along with them on the weekend and this weeks challenge was to do a photo of someone jumping.  I pulled my youngest outside and made him jump for me, at first he wasn't into it but after a few times he was a jumping mad man and I got some really great photos of him.

I wanted to keep this one really simple and this paper from the American Crafts Shoreline collection was perfect for it.  I added some white Dear Lizzy foam letters and that was it.

I really love doing the Instagram photo challenges, I always end up with photos that I love.

Welcome

Sun rays are all the rage in cards and scrapbooking right now and I love them, they are so fun and a great way to use up leftover pieces of patterned paper.  That's exactly what I did with this card after making 3 mini albums I still had a few left over pieces of patterned paper and used them to make this card to mail off with the mini album.

I punched out a scallop circle to mimic the sun and used a paper piercer and white pen to add some detail to the edges.

I added the welcome sentiment to a piece of patterned paper cut with a banner shape and a little bit of twine for extra detail.

It's so much fun making these sunbursts and I know I will be doing it again.

Sunshine and Happiness Cupcake Toppers

My son was having a party his last day of camp and asked if we could make cupcakes.  I love baking so even though it was a really hot day we baked cupcakes and decorated them.  Once they were finished I decided to add some cute cupcake toppers to them.

I cut out some pretty flowers and clouds from the beautiful Bella Blvd Sunshine and Happiness collection and glued them on to toothpicks to add to the cupcakes.

This collection really is pure sunshine and happiness :)

The kids loved them and my son was the hit of the party - what could be better than that?

Project Happiness Week 5

I am a little behind with  my Project Happiness but I really want to see this through, actually I am having so much fun doing these little projects I think I will continue to do them for the rest of the year.

Week 5 was pretty quiet, just hanging around the house and letting the kids be kids.  The first of my happy moments came this week when my son finally conquered climbing the big tree in our complex.  He has wanted to do it since he was about 5 but this week he finally did it, the big reward is jumping over to the roof of the big shed and having a Coke with his friend.

I used the Bella Blvd Sunshine and Happiness collection which has lots of fun patterns to cut out and play with.

I especially loved the little clouds :)

My second happy moment came from shopping at Costco and finding a ROXY hoodie there. I love Roxy, it's been one of my favorite clothing companies for as long as I can remember, I love their flip flops and bags too.

I love hand cutting out designs to create embellishments and these flowers were perfect for this project.

I also love these mini clothes pins that I found at the dollar store, with a little bit of twine they are prefect to attach the projects to my board.

Weaving Fish

One of the fun things we did at the Polynesian Cultural Centre was learn to do weaving with palm leaves.  We learned to make a little fish and it was so fun.  When I was doing this layout I thought why not try doing the same think with paper.  I love how the little fishies turned out.

I had some wood insides left from the Studio Calico wood veneer frame set and misted them with some color along with buttons to mimic bubbles.

I love incorporating fun things like these fish into my layouts.  Thanks for stopping by.

Many Thanks

I don't think I have done this many thank you cards in a very long time.  It seems like every card I have made recently has been a thank you card.  For this card I cut out the flowers from the patterned paper and created a bouquet.  Then I added the sentiment created from a piece of journaling card and of course some twine to finish it off.

I am still in love with the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line - I made this card with some leftover bits I have left.  I can't wait to get my hands on her new line :)

Butterflies

I love butterflies and the butterfly patterned paper from My Minds Eye was perfect for cutting out and adding to my projects.

For this card I added some Washi Tape on the edge and added a button to one of the butterflies.

Pretty patterned paper makes me happy!  Thanks for stopping by.

A Baby Mini Album

My husband's Sister and Cousin are having babies in the near future and he wanted me to make them a baby brag book for their photos.  I ordered the Handmade collection from Lily Bee and some Studio Calico wood veneer frames and shapes because I thought they would be perfect for some baby albums.  I knew that one of them was having a girl so I made one pink and girly and the other one more neutral.

For the cover I used the wood frames from Studio Calico.  I layered them with stickers and added wood shapes and buttons to them.

I used the banner stickers to create a banner and added some twine.

I thought pinwheels would be a fun embellishment for a baby album.  I added it to the front flap page along with a "Welcome" sentiment.

I added some Zutter Removable page protectors for them to slip some 4 x 6 photos into.  On the outside of the page protectors I added a journaling card and some wood houses.

This is the more neutral version done in yellows and greens.

I really love the butterfly wood veneer shapes especially when you add a button.

This is another flap page to add more journaling and photos.

I also added a few keepsake pockets, for one of them I just used a brown paper bag and decorated the outside with a confetti pocket.

I had so much fun making these mini albums and can't wait until they use them.

Such a Wonderful Day

One of the best things about scrapbooking for me is getting to look back at all the fabulous photos and memories when I am scrapping them.  I don't scrap chronologically but just pull out a photo I feel like scrapbooking and away I go.  I try and use as much of my stash as I can and I ended up using a sheet of paper that was cut up but still had the scallop border so I squished it together and used it like a frame.

This was a day spent with my family at the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Hawaii, the kids loved it.  There was amazing dancing, games, shows.  It was really a very wonderful day!
