Summer in January

I had some old layouts that I made last year that I didn't have time to share so I thought I would do it now.  They are all summer/beach theme and made with the American Crafts Shoreline Collection. 

 

The first layout is my little one surfing for the first time in Hawaii.He did amazing standing up on his very first attempt.

 

 

 

 

The second layout is about the giant sand castle we build every year when we go to out friends cabin, the kids love doing it and have a competition to see who can stay on it the longest once the tide comes in.

 

The third layout is my oldest surfing for the first time in Hawaii.  I can't believe that they all got up and did it on their first attempt.  I was amazed.

 

 

This last layout is about one of most favorite things to do when we go to the beach, find sea creatures and shells.  For this project I used the Epiphany Crafts pennant took for the banner across the top.

Let's Celebrate

We are celebrating over at the Epiphany Crafts blog this week.  For my project I decided to create a birthday card and some decorations for my son's birthday in a few weeks.

 

For the card I used the Pennant Shape Studio Tool 25 and created a banner with some letter stickers spelling out PARTY.

 

I also used the Pennant Shape Studio Tool 25 to create the chevron border at the bottom of the card by layering them on top of each other.

 

I added some twine for detail.

I also added some cut out shapes and a Bella Blvd. "Celebrate" flag.

 

For the decorations I thought I would make some pinwheels for the table. 

 

 

I used the Pennant Shape Studio Tool 25 and the Scallop Shape Studio Tool 25 to create the centre of the pin wheels.

 

I really love how they turned out and can't wait to celebrate my son's birthday in a few weeks.

we have a few new babies in our family this year so when I send them a little special something from us I like to add a little tag or card.

I went through my stash and found some gingham paper in boy, girl and neutral colors and used the wood grain shapes from Crate Paper for the embellishment.  For the boy tag I used the rocking horse and a blue button with twine.

 

For the girl tag I used the Deer and bow wood shapes with a pink button and some pink twine.

 

 

 

And for the neutral tag I used the Duck wood shape with a neutral color button and some green twine.

Hey Mr. DJ

I was so excited to get these photos from a wedding we attended that Linden decided he wanted to try his hand at being DJ.  He had so much fun and these photos are awesome!

 

For this layout I used the Crate Paper On Trend 6x6 paper pad and just used 4 different patterns. 

For the title I used some American Crafts Thickers and my Silhouette.  I also used my Silhouette to cut out the star background.

 I also wanted to add these wooden speech bubbles and stars from Studio Calico, love!  I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist to match the papers.

 

 

This is one of my favorite layouts right now, I think I might frame this one :)

Imaginisce Design Team Introductions

It's my turn over at the Imaginisce blog today for the Design Team Introductions.  I was so excited when I got the email from them that I had made their Design Team.  It has been a dream of mine for many years and it's so wonderful when dreams are fulfilled. Here are a two of the projects I created.

 

 The first one was using their Hello, Cupcake line which is perfect for birthday parties and cards.  I made a birthday set (my son's birthday is coming up) which includes a gift card holder, a goody bag and some decorations. 

 

I made this goody bag using a white bag and covering it with the sprinkles paper.  Then I made some confetti from the other papers including some shapes from the pattered paper.

 

 

I added the Hooray! at the bottom of the bag and used foam tape to make it pop up a little and have some movement.

 

 

For the gift card holder I covered an Altoids tin with patterned paper and cut out the presents and used foam tape to pop them up and add some dimension.

 

I covered these Maya Road chipboard shapes with paper and used a white gel pen to add definition to the outside edges.

 

For my second project I used the Christmas Cheer collection to create a Christmas Card and Ornament set for my boss at work.

 

 

I added some sequins to the card and ornament to add some sparkle.  I loved the fabric stickers in this collection.

For the ornament I filled a glass ball with curled paper and sequins, then I added the fabric sticker to the front.  I also covered the top with some patterned paper and added a bow.

My word for the year...

It didn't take me long to pick my word this year, it came to me and I knew it was perfect for 2013.

 

SHINE

 

This word is always popping up in my life right now and seems to be in a few of my favorite songs and quotes.

 

Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd

 

"I'll see your true colors shining through"

 

 

"Love burns brighter than sunshine"

 

 

"Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun."

New Year, New Word

Over at the Imaginisce blog they are having their monthly sketch challenge which for this month included the challenges to use the color blue and one word to describe you/your outlook for 2013.  As you may know for the past few years I have played along with Ali Edwards One Little Word challenge (you can see more information here) and every year I make myself a journal using the word on the cover so as I write in it throughout the year I am reminded of my word and why I chose it.

 

My word this year is SHINE! (If you come back in a few days I will be explaining more about why I picked this word for 2013)  I really wanted my journal to reflect my word and decided to make a star burst and add lots of shine to it. 

 

I cut out the star shapes from Imaginisce paper with my Silhouette and added some silver pen to make them stand out a bit more.  I then added some vellum star bursts and a vellum star in the middle. 

 

I added the word to one of the star bursts and the year on the other side.

 

To make the whole thing shine I sprayed it with Studio Calico's Mister Huey Calico Shine.
