Layout Tag

I participated in a game of layout tag over at Scrapbook Nerd, I love playing these they are so fun! Here's the video of the process:

I did one of my favorite things for this layout - fussy cutting. I cut all the pretty flowers from an Amy Tangerine patterned paper and layered them in a circle.

Then I added some of the fun rubber embellies in this collection - I really love these.

The photos are from the day we took my youngest son's grad photos so we stopped at some scenic places and took a bunch of photos. I really love how they turned out.

If you want to check out all the layouts and how they changed over the course of the game head on over to ScrapbookkNerd.com.

Scrapbook Nerd Summer Camp

Hi all, I was missing all the amazing ladies at Scrapbook Nerd so I asked if I could be a guest designer for their 4th annual Summer Camp. For my first challenge "Campfire Songs" I am challenging you to use lyrics on tour layout.

I used this photo of my son's grade 7 class and the song I chose for their year end video from Owl City called Verge. The lyrics are perfect for grad and my favorite line was "out on the verge of the rest of our lives".

I am using the Amy Tangerine Better Together collection from Scrapbook Nerd which is a really fun collection and has some fun journaling tags.

I used them as layers and also made a pocket to add some journaling cards.

I added some cards in the pocket and used the Our Playlist to write the songs that Linden is listening to right now and also used the Good Friends tag to write down his friends and teacher and other details.

Head on over to ScrapbookNerd.com to play along with some awesome challenges, games and prizes.

Friday inspiration - Mixed Media

It's time for another Inspiration Friday with Joy and this week we are taking our inspiration from Mixed Media.  I have to say I am not really into mixed media but I did just buy a watercolor set and decided to take the plunge.  You can watch my video here:

For my take on this challenge I took a black and white background page and watercolored the arrows to go with the photo. I know not too artsy but it was definitely out of my box.

I love how it ended up and had fun playing withe the watercolors so I might keep playing and see where it takes me.

Planner Love

I am still loving the Planner craze and I have many planners lol. They are all so beautiful I have a hard time saying no to them!

I have one planner I keep strictly to keep track of my son's dance/theater stuff which trust me is a lot.

I have been using my scrapbook stuff for this planner. The Crate Paper Poolside collection is perfect with my Teal Color Crush Planner.

Pineapple Love part 2

Here is the second project I made with my Pineapple stamp.

I stamped the image on wood discs to make a fun decor element for my office. I change this board out all the time with what is inspiring me at the moment.

I colored in the image with gel pens, markers, pencil crayons, gelato and more. You can see all of them on my video.

Totally loving how this turned out and it reminds me of California and Disneyland two of my favorite things.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the video showing how I created this fun decor.

Let's Get Creative

I have a new video series starting on my YouTube channel today called "Let's Get Creative". I am challenging myself to use my supplies in fun and creative ways. For my first video I am using this pineapple stamp from the Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers Collection and trying to use it three different ways.

I am not a stamper at all but I love this stamp (and all things pineapple right now) and wanted to think outside the box and come up with some fun ways to use it.  First up I used it as a stitching template and you could really do this with any stamp as long as it's not too detailed.

I stamped it on some kraft paper and then stitched the image using a simple back stitch for the top and outline then filling in the pineapple with french knots. I added them to this cute frame from Target filled with some cuties in their Stitch hats.

To see another pineapple project check back on my blog later this week.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out my video.

Inspiration Friday - Sketches

This week Joy and I are taking our inspiration from a sketch. I don't usually work with sketches so this was a little out of the comfort zone for me but I actually found that it made the process a lot quicker and because of my limited time these days I might need to use them more. We used this fun sketch from Scrapfriends.com I found online.

I wanted to use this photo from the past month from my son's first competition, they did amazing and two routines made it to the top 10 overall for the competition which is awesome.

I have heard the term "Squad Goals" quite a bit on-line and thought it would be the perfect title for this layout. I used the Finders Keepers collection from Amy Tangerine I love the colors.

I followed the sketch pretty much bank on and added some black ink and rub ons.

I had a lot of fun making this layout, you can see the video here...

And don't forget to check out how Joy was inspired by this layout on her channel.

Wizard of Oz Midori

I finally got the Wizard of Oz Midori for my son finished. There is nothing quite like knowing a project is complete. I think that's why I have always loved mini albums and now Midori's they are little treasure troves of pretty paper, cute embellishments, fun pictures and life!

I love this picture on the little charm I made, how cute are those Munchkins.

The cast had a Cabaret to celebrate how well the show was going. It was a blast.

Sneaking backstage to take photos of his costume rack.

They had a performance on New Years Eve so Linden and I got the kids noise makers, party hats and sparkling apple cider.  The last show was so bitter-sweet.

A wind up cast party and the cutest gift from the Director Barb.

Look at all this goodness, I love the washi tape on the edges!

Hello Cali

We are taking a quick visit to California/Disneyland soon and I decided to use up my stash and make a mini album with the Pink Paislee flamingo and gold Instagram album, it's so pretty.

I am using the Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers collection for the inside, it's perfect for this Cali girl.

I am keeping the inside simple as I will need room to journal and add photos.

Wizard of Oz - Part 1

Well the Wizard of Oz has wrapped up which makes me sad and happy at the same time. I loved seeing my son in his element doing his thing and loving every minute, but I am happy that things will hopefully get a little quieter and less driving for a while.

I have been doing a Midori for each of Linden's shows and finally got around to starting this one over the holidays.I am using this fun leather Midori from Foxy Fix, it reminded me of a rainbow like the song from the show, Somewhere over the Rainbow.

I am using the Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers collection to make the books. I made three books to go inside the Midori, one for audition/getting ready, one for the actual show and the last one will be for the cast autographs.

I layered some journaling cards, paper and embellishments on the cover of each one.

I will be sharing the inside of the book and how I created these Friday on my YouTube channel.

2016

Hi all, Happy New Year!

Every year I join Ali Edwards in picking One Little Word to use for the year and this year I have chosen FOCUS.

Focus is defined as:
To concentrate, to direct one's attention or efforts, the centre of interest or activity

This year I want to FOCUS on my family and to help them achieve their goals and dreams, I want to FOCUS on my own goals and dreams and figure out what they are and how I can get them, I want to Focus on being happy and living in the moment and I want to Focus on getting healthy.

Every year I make a visual reminder of my word and put it somewhere I always see it. This year I made a little canvas with the Amy Tangerine collection that I know she made just for me, I mean those palm trees love!

Did you pick a word for 2016?  If so please share it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Sunshine

Hello Sunshine!  I started another Layout Tag over at Scrapbook Nerd - I love doing them!

This is my layout with a grid design.  I love the bright colors in the new Amy Tangerine collection.

This photo is my son and I from last year at one of his competitions.  He really is my sunshine!

I added some fun wood tags and epoxy shapes.

I also added one of the metal clips to the centre of this flower.

I can't wait to see how this Layout Tag works out.
