Easter Baskets

It's Xyron week over at the Imaginisce Blog this week and today it's my turn to share my Easter project.

 

 

Easter in our house is all about filling cute little baskets with lots of goodies.  What better way to use some fun bright color paper and make your own baskets. 

 To make these baskets I used a cut file by Lori Whitlock and cut out the basket shape with my Silhouette from three coordinating colors and used pieces from each color to make the woven piece for these fun little baskets. 

Then I used the Xyron Mega Runner to adhere the basket together and adhere the bottom circle of the basket to make sure it held together well.

 

For projects like these you need a good strong adhesive and the Xyron Mega Runner was perfect. 

 

My son (and I) are in love with these cute little "fluffies" and he always asks to give them out to his classmates.  I was so happy to find a bag at Michaels with these nice bright colors.

 

 

I used the stickers and an oval punch to make a fun sentiment for the front of the baskets.  To finish off the baskets I added a few candies in plastic eggs and I was done.

Easter Bunny Basket Pockets

It's Easter week over on the Epiphany Crafts Blog this week and with Easter just a few days away and I needed to make some last minute treats for teachers and friends.

 I found a really cute Easter Basket and Bunny cut file on the Silhouette website and cut them out from patterned paper. 

 The little bunnies needed a cute little tail so I used the Epiphany Crafts Button Studio Tool Round 14 and made them a little button tail.  I then attached the bunny to the front of the basket. 

 

 

To add a sentiment I typed Happy Easter on my typewriter and punched it out using the Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Tool Oval 25 and tied it on to the basket handle with some coordinating twine. 

 

To finish off the basket I added the fringe grass and an egg.  The pocket is a perfect size for a small treat or a gift card.

Going to see Mickey

It's Spring Break here and we are off to Disneyland for a quick trip to see Mickey.  I love, love, love Disneyland and California and try to go whenever I can.  I am so excited to be leaving behind the rain for a few days, hitting the sunshine, riding Pirates of the Carribean and seeing Mickey!

 

 

We have a few friends going the same week as we are (minus hubby he has to work) and my youngest wanted me to make him an autograph book.  I decided since I was all ready making one, making a few more would be easy.

 

 

To make them I cut up some old patterned paper and white cardstock to 4"x 4" (I tried to get colors that went with the Characters, red for Mickey, blue for Donald, orange for Tigger, pink for the princess etc.). 

 

 

Then I covered the chipboard for the covers in Core'dinations cardstock and cut the Mickey heads out of black cardstock with my silhouette. I also found a Disney font online and cut out the first initial of all the kids going and added it to the centre of the Mickey head.

 

 

I added some Washi tape to just one side of the cover for some texture and fun.  I bound them together with my Bind-It-All.

 

 

For the perfect finishing touch I added some twine and an Epiphany Crafts charm with their names to the Owires.  Square for Linden and hearts for the girls.

Ride On

My son really loves his scooter, in the summer he spends all day outside scootering and having races with his friends.  For this layout I used the Imaginisce Childhood Memories collection.

 I cut the banner from several of the patterned papers and strung it along the top with some twine.

 

I didn't glue it down as I wanted the layout to have lots of movement.

 

 

I also cut out some big arrows to draw the eye to the title and photos.

 

 

I know he can't wait for the weather to be warm enough to bring out his scooter.

Robin's Nest and Epiphany Crafts

This week on the Epiphany Crafts blog we are swapping with the awesome Robin's Nest.

 

 

For my project I decided to use the super cute Easter paper and make a card.

 

 

I cut out the grass strips from the patterned paper and added them to the bottom of the card, then I cut out the bunnies and added them using foam tape to pop up the little one for some dimension.

I also cut the "Hippity Hoppity" strip and incorporated it into the title on my card.

For a finishing touch I used the Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Tool Oval 25 to add some fun Easter Eggs.

Endless Summer

This week Imaginisce is having an Endless Summer release party on the blog. I was so excited to get this collection, so many fun summer BBQ and pool party images perfect for all things summer.

 

My first project is a layout of my son snorkeling at our friends cabin on Savary Island.

 

 

As soon as I saw the sunburst paper in this new collection I immediately fell in love with it, so bright and fun.  I cut out the rays and folded up the edges to add some dimension then reattached them in the same order coming from the top corner. 

 

To add some texture I added some stitching as a border around the rays. The fun stickers and die cuts in this collection are perfect for all my summer pages and adds the perfect finishing touch to any layout.

 

 

For my second project I made a BBQ Party Set. 

 

 

I really loved the BBQ theme papers and die cuts in this collection as well, perfect for your next BBQ party. 

 

I created an invitation, some potato chip containers, cutlery holders, pop wraps and some fun watermelon rosettes.

Sweet

My son's wonderful teacher had to leave her position, the kids were so upset there were a lot of tears and sadness when we found out.  My son asked if we could make her something to remember them and so we created a mini album for her.

 

 

 

I added a few pocket pages so we could add some gift cards for her, all the parents pitched in and we got her two cards to her favorite places.

 

 

All the kids in the class wrote her little notes and we added them into the mini album.  Some of the notes were sad, some funny, some touching.  I cried putting this all together.  She will be missed.

 

 

 

Luckily she has been back to sub a few times and the new teacher promised to ask for her first and if she is able she will come back.  She was probably the best teacher my son has had so far and I can only hope he has more like her in the future.

Grad 2012

I couldn't wait to scrap these photos of my son and some friends from their Grade 7 grad last June.  I have know these two beautiful girls since Kindergarten and they are such lovely young ladies.  Rhys looked so handsome in his black shirt and tie, so grown up too.  It was an amazing day!

I used the Dear Lizzy Fifth and Frolic collection which I fell in love with.  I fussy cut the flowers and added them diagonally across the layout using foam tape to pop some of them up for dimension.

 

 

I added the matching epoxy buttons to the centre of a few of the flowers and the cute camera chipboard.

 

Even though my son is in the photo I really wanted to use these sparkly silver Thickers from American Crafts, so pretty.

 

Across the other diagonal I cut out and added some Polaroid pieces from patterned paper and the chipboard.
